What does EpiMonitor do?

EpiMonitor is an FDA-cleared solution that provides peace of mind for those living with epilepsy and their loved ones. It consists of a wearable device and a companion app, working together to detect possible generalized tonic-clonic seizures and alert caregivers. This helps expedite assistance when needed.

EpiMonitor also has other monitoring features making it your go-to, all-in-one companion.

EpiMonitor is currently available for purchase only in the US, via our Online Store. As EpiMonitor is a medical device, a valid prescription with ‘EpiMonitor’ as the prescribed item is required before we can ship to the US. You can read more about this here: Prescription Requirements for EpiMonitor

Key Features:
Seizure Detection & Alerting Capabilities

Seizure Alert Sent (1).png

In the event of a possible tonic-clonic seizure lasting over 20 seconds, the device immediately alerts your designated caregivers, ensuring they can respond quickly and provide timely assistance when needed most.

The device continuously monitors for seizure activity, giving you peace of mind knowing that your caregivers will be notified if a seizure is detected. You can read more about this here: How the Alerting System works

Seizure Diary

FAQs

What type of seizure is EpiMonitor able to detect?

EpiMonitor is designed to detect unusual patterns associated with generalized tonic-clonic seizures lasting 20 seconds or longer. It is not designed to detect seizures that do not generate movements such as complex partial seizures, absence seizures, or non-convulsive seizures. However, you can manually add other types of seizures to the EpiMonitor App to keep track of all seizure events.

What happens when there is a Bluetooth disconnection?

When EmbracePlus is disconnected from the paired phone, EmbracePlus is unable to communicate to the app about a possible detected seizure. Therefore, the alert calls and SMS cannot be sent to your caregivers. As soon as the device automatically reconnects to the app, the seizure detection and alerting will start working seamlessly.

While disconnected, the device can still log data about your sleep and activity. These data will be stored in its internal memory instead of going to the EpiMonitor App immediately and will transfer only when the Bluetooth connection is restored. As soon as this happens, the data will start to offload onto the EpiMonitor App, freeing up the memory of EmbracePlus.

While the memory of EmbracePlus can hold up to at least 4 days, we recommend staying connected to the dedicated phone as much as possible to guarantee all functionalities are properly up and running. When the EmbracePlus memory is full, it will not be able to record any more sleep or activity periods.

What happens when the smartphone is not connected to the internet?

Without an internet connection, the data stored on the EpiMonitor App will not be synced to our servers. This means that if EmbracePlus detects a possible seizure event when there is no internet connection, alert calls and SMS will not be sent out to the caregivers as our servers will not be able to receive the event from the EpiMonitor App.

Once the internet connection is restored, any unsynced data will then be uploaded automatically to our servers.

Why is the subscription plan required?

The subscription plan is required to enable the EpiMonitor seizure detection and alerting system. Without an active subscription plan, you will be logged out of the app and can no longer use EpiMonitor. You can choose between 3 subscription plans depending on your needs and budget.
