EmbracePlus is built with quality materials and Empatica has conducted thorough biocompatibility testing to ensure user safety. However, it is possible that some users might experience skin irritation or redness after extended use. This can be attributed to factors such as prolonged contact, sweat, or the buildup of materials beneath the device. To ensure comfort and minimize any potential issues, please follow the suggestions below:
- As a first step, we suggest adjusting the fit of the EmbracePlus to ensure the device is not too tight. It should fit snugly on your wrist so that the device does not move. For guidance on how to wear the device to avoid simple skin reactions, please refer to: Wearing EpiMonitor
- If you’re experiencing skin irritation, it's important to determine whether it’s due to an allergic reaction or mere irritation. As a precaution, you might consider wearing the device on the other wrist for a limited period to see if the reaction persists, as long as this wrist is also generating convulsive movements. If in doubt, make sure to consult your doctor and check if this is a possibility for you.
- It is recommended to clean the EmbracePlus once a week as this helps remove sweat and bacteria from the surface, thereby reducing the risk of skin irritation.
If you develop an allergic reaction that persists for more than 2-3 days, stop wearing the EmbracePlus until the irritation has completely resolved and get in touch with your doctor for further evaluation and advice on appropriate treatment.
Empatica has conducted biocompatibility testing in accordance with ISO 10993 standards, and the device has successfully passed these tests.
