EpiMonitor is optimized to detect patterns that may be associated with convulsive seizures. Some types of activity that you engage in during the day (such as brushing your teeth or scrubbing dishes) may seem like a possible convulsive seizure to EpiMonitor when they are not. This is called a false alert.
Seizure detection and alerts
When the system detects a possible seizure, your EmbracePlus starts vibrating and will show the alert sign (EpiMonitor logo) on the display.
Then, a 15-second countdown will appear showing how many seconds are remaining for you to cancel the Alert in case it’s a false alarm.
The EpiMonitor App will also show a 15-second countdown.

The EpiMonitor logo will appear when a possible seizure event is detected. Short-press the NO button on EmbracePlus. |
Press and hold either of the side buttons for three seconds to confirm the cancellation. Keep the button held down while the three second countdown is displayed on the EmbracePlus screen. |
Once the cancellation is confirmed, a checkmark will be displayed on EmbracePlus. No alert will be sent to your Caregivers and the seizure will not be saved in the Diary. |
