Using Embrace with a Vagus Nerve Stimulator (VNS), a pacemaker or during a scan

Please note that Embrace2 is no longer available for purchase. We have recently launched our newest epilepsy monitoring solution, EpiMonitor, in the following countries: United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, Liechtenstein, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Malta, and Finland. Please visit this page to learn more about it: What’s new on EpiMonitor. Embrace2 services (Alert App, Mate App) will remain active for current users. The Empatica Support Team will continue to provide support for all Embrace2 users.

Wearing Embrace with a VNS or a pacemaker

There shouldn't be any problems using Embrace with the stretchable band alongside a VNS or a pacemaker as Embrace does not contain any magnetic parts. If instead, you’d like to use the vegan leather band, we suggest checking this with your doctor because this band contains some magnetic components.

The VNS could actually be great to use alongside Embrace, because it activates the parasympathetic branch of the autonomic nervous system. Embrace measures electrodermal activity which is a common measure of autonomic nervous system activity.

Wearing Embrace during an MRI or X-Ray scan

You should not wear Embrace during an MRI or an X-ray scan. During these procedures the doctor will usually ask you to remove all metal objects since they can affect the quality of the exams. Please, make sure that you remove the Embrace2 as well.
