This feature is only available with the enterprise Plan. (Care App and Care Portal).
The features available in the Care App vary by study. Depending on the configuration, participants may see ePRO questionnaires, medication reminders, Functional Tests, or a combination of these.
If one or more eCOA (electronic Clinical Outcome Assessment) features are enabled for the study, participants will see a My tasks button on the main screen of the Care App.
After accessing the My tasks view, participants can pick a task to perform by simply tapping on it.
Participants are guided through the task with step-by-step instructions, and the test is completed when they select the Submit button.
Once the task is completed, it will be uploaded to the Empatica Cloud. If the smartphone does not have an active internet connection when a task is completed, the task will be uploaded as soon as an internet connection is available.
Depending on the study configuration, participants may receive one or more reminder notifications throughout the day or week. Tapping a notification opens the specific task.
Depending on the study configuration, some tasks may only be available during specific time frames.
ePRO (electronic Patient-Reported Outcomes)
ePROs are sets of questions, designed for accessibility and ease of use, that participants answer directly in the Care App. The Care App guides patients through their ePROs with clear step-by-step instructions, reminders, and intuitive navigation.
Questionnaires can be completed directly from the Care App, even offline, ensuring continuous data collection with minimal burden.
Medication Reminders
If enabled for the study, medication reminder notifications are sent via the Care App. Participants can simply tap on the medication reminder notification to open the intake log task.
Make sure notifications are enabled for the Care App on the participant’s smartphone.
Functional Tests
Functional Tests are study-specific activities that participants can perform in the Care App through guided flows with clear instructions, visuals, and reminders.
Participants must wear the Empatica Wearable while completing the Functional Tests. The device should be connected and have sufficient charge.
The first time a Functional Test is started, an internet connection is required to download the required assets to the device. After that, the Functional Test can be completed offline.
