Configure your smartphone to use EpiMonitor

Setting up EpiMonitor is easy. Before doing that, however, you will have to make sure that your dedicated smartphone is compatible and configured correctly.

You will be able to check compatibility even before purchasing the EpiMonitor Pack. Download the EpiMonitor App for free and start the Compatibility Check to know if your phone will be compatible.

To know more about compatibility, please have a look at this article: Phone compatibility for EpiMonitor

Once you have made sure that your smartphone is compatible, you will have to check a few more things, depending on your dedicated smartphone’s Operating System:

iOS Devices:
  1. Make sure to have an iOS version from 15 to 17 on your smartphone (if needed, you can check your iOS version and how to upgrade it).
  2. Check that you don't have any battery saving feature active: they might kill the Bluetooth connection in the background by trying to save battery, impacting the EpiMonitor functionalities.

Go to Settings > Battery Disable “Low Power Mode”

Android Devices
  1. Make sure to have an Android version 12, 12.1, 13, or 14 on your smartphone and that the device supports Bluetooth® 5.0 or higher and is 2M PHY-compatible* (check your Android version and how to upgrade it).
  2. Configure the phone settings to disable any power-saving features that may affect the EpiMonitor App from functioning correctly (these settings can vary depending on the phone model):

go to Settings > Battery > top-right 3 dots > Battery Optimization > All Apps > find EpiMonitor App > select 'Don't Optimize

For a smoother Bluetooth connection, we also recommend connecting EmbracePlus to the smartphone without any other Bluetooth-connected devices. With some smartphones, connecting additional Bluetooth devices such as wireless earbuds, Bluetooth speakers, etc., might cause issues with the connection stability between EmbracePlus and the paired smartphone.

*Bluetooth 2M PHY is a faster type of Bluetooth connection, capable of transferring data at a quicker speed. Not all phones have this: make sure to check our compatibility article to know if your smartphone is equipped with it.
