Compatible phones and tablets

In order for the Embrace and the alerting system to function properly, the watch wearer should have a dedicated phone/tablet to pair the Embrace with. The paired device should always stay within range (10 meters/30 feet) and be connected to Bluetooth and the internet at all times. Only in this case will it be able to send alert calls/SMS to the active caregivers when Embrace detects a possible seizure event.

Embrace can be paired with most modern smartphones. However, before you purchase the Embrace, please check whether your device is compatible and reaches the minimum requirements listed below.

(Embrace cannot be paired with the Apple Watch and other smartwatches.)

For iOS devices:

Please make sure that your device is running an iOS version from 10 to 16 (iPhone 5s and higher).

To check this, please:

  1. Open ‘Settings’ and then tap on ‘General’

  2. From there, please tap on ‘About’ then ‘iOS Version’

For Android devices:

The device must be running Android versions 11, 12, or 13 as released by Google. In addition, the smartphone must have Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE 4.0/Bluetooth smart).

To check this, please:

  1. Open ‘Settings’ and then tap on ‘About phone’

  2. Look for ‘Android version’

(These settings can vary depending on the phone model.)

Please note: Due to the many variations between how different Android device manufacturers customizes their version of the operating system and handle the technologies used in our products and services, unfortunately, we are unable to provide a list of compatible phone models or guarantee compatibility with all devices that meet the above requirements.

For other mobile platforms:

We currently do not support Windows, Blackberry phones, and other operating systems such as Fire OS.

Please be aware that iPad and other tablets have not been optimized or tested for compatibility with Embrace.

If you intend to use a tablet as a dedicated device, please be aware that, unless your tablet is with a phone functionality that enables it to receive calls or SMS, you will not be able to perform the Test Alert Feature offered during the pairing, as the recipient of the test alert is the watch wearer’s device.

However, please do not worry. For the actual alerts, the alert calls and SMS will be sent to the caregivers’ phones instead of the watch wearer’s device.
